Amsterdam Korte van Eegenstraat
4 story house
2 apartments
This building was intended for two related families, with each family occupying a separate apartment tailored to their specific functions and needs.
Both couples, originally from the US, sought a complete renovation—a fresh, contemporary design that reflects their personal style while harmonising with the vibrant atmosphere of Amsterdam.
As the project nears completion, the construction work has concluded, leaving only the original Dutch-style facade intact.
The images provided offer a glimpse of the design approach: classical features, sleek detailing, dramatic aesthetics, and juxtaposed elements.
In collaboration with our partner SieMatic, we crafted the kitchen, featuring full-length cabinets from their Beaux Arts collection, hand-painted in Sterling Grey. These cabinets seamlessly integrate Miele appliances and a French-style fridge-freezer combination. A niche within the cabinets serves as a compact barista area, complete with a small sink and a classic RVS finish Quooker.
Classic things are often the truest...
The centerpiece of the living area is a substantial island, chosen in a striking graphite color to command attention and serve as a focal point between the living and dining spaces. This island not only facilitates cooking but also fosters social interaction, with a bar on one side where owners can prepare meals and engage with guests during gatherings and celebrations.
In the cooking zone, a thick 120 cm slab, mirroring the niche design in the island, houses three PITT cooking elements. The slab's substantial thickness not only adds a playful dimension but also evokes the classical aesthetic of a traditional stove, with gas burner knobs integrated into its structure.
